Position Summary:

In conjunction with the Engineering and Manufacturing Teams, the Electrical Controls Engineer’s key responsibilities include designing and developing control systems and complete automated production cells using CNCs, Robots, PLCs, HMIs, and all peripherals required to accomplish the required goals for manufacturing luxury motor yacht components.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • This individual will be responsible for the design, integration, and interfacing of CNC machines, robots, sensors, actuators, hydraulics, pneumatics and all peripherals required to create automated production cells.
  • Ability to program PLCs, HMIs, CNCs, Robots and Robotic systems with languages like RS-274 (G-Code), Karel, Fanuc and Yaskawa Robot Languages, PLC (ladder, script function block, etc.), HMI development, and familiar with Modbus, EtherCat, Ethernet/IP, Mechatrolink, and other data transfer protocols.
  • Additional duties involve testing and validating new and modified systems, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards, provide training, and continuously improving system performance. 
  • Heavily involved with electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, safety circuits, peripheral device selection and programming, machine power-up, debug, and validation/buyoff.
  • This individual with provide support to maintenance with trouble shooting to solve production/machine issues and maintaining control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Project management, parts selection, BOM creation, electrical drawing, and creating technical documentation for the assigned tasks and projects.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Education: Technical degree preferred. Education in controls and robotics through industry training courses.
  • Preferred: Familiar with MI-OSHA, NFPA, NEC, Local and State Codes and Regulations for automation cells and the equipment within.

 

Technical Experience:

    • Minimum of five years of experience developing automation controls.
    • Minimum of two years of experience developing robotic applications.
    • Experience with PLC’s, CNCs, HMI’s, Motion Control, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics.
    • Experience working with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar software) to design electrical panel layouts, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, and electric/electronic schematics.
    • Preferred: engineering expertise in sizing robots for payload and reach, performing reach and timing studies, and programming and troubleshooting robots.
    • Preferred: develop integrated vision systems to be used with robots, create simulations of the robot cells, configure master/slave robots using industrial networks such as Ethernet IP or ProfiNet and have knowledge and experience with RIA 15.06 robotic safety standards.
    • Preferred: experience with multiple brands of PLCs, HMIs, and peripherals (Allen Bradley, P1000/P2000 Productivity Series Controllers, Yaskawa MP3300, C-More HMI, Panel View HMI, etc.).
    • Experience with Ethernet/IP programming for remote peripheral devices (I/O, Air manifolds, remote IO-Link, etc.).

 

  • Computer Skills:  Highly proficient with MS Office products. Experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks preferred.
